Turning a hazard into an actionSee how to create an action, assign it, track its progress and keep a record. In this articleAssessing a hazard is not enough: the goal is to reduce it. From each hazard, create one or more preventive actions: training, protective equipment, reorganization, work rules, maintenance…
You can adopt an action suggested by OSHAid or create one manually. Either way, the action stays linked to the hazard it addresses: your action plan keeps its meaning.
An action with no owner and no date is just a wish. For each action, designate the person in charge and set a realistic due date.
The owner sees the actions assigned to them and can keep their progress up to date, directly from their own account.
Your action plan distinguishes actions that are in progress, completed or overdue. At a glance, you know where your prevention effort stands and where to focus your follow-ups.
Watch the overdue actions
An overdue action is a hazard left untreated. Regularly review the actions past their due date: re-prioritize, reassign or adjust the date.
When an action is completed, add evidence whenever possible: a photo of the equipment installed, a training certificate, a new safety rule posted. These items document your effort over time and naturally join your compliance documents.
In the event of an inspection or an audit, this evidence shows that your prevention does not stop at paperwork: it translates into real actions.
